Fill Coat is an optional step between the finish coat and the sealer. It fills the surface pores of a coarse texture so the finish wipes clean instead of catching dirt.

The material goes on over cured microcement in one thin coat, then dries before sealing. Fill Coat does not replace your sealer, but over Fill Coat one coat of sealer is enough instead of two.

Fill Coat WA (Wet Areas) - the two-component version for showers and wet areas. Mix Part A and Part B at 60:40 by weight with a low speed drill and paddle at 300 to 400 rpm for about 3 minutes. Then pour the whole batch into a clean bucket and mix it again.

Why you mix it twice: material clings to the sides and bottom of the first bucket and never gets into the blade path. On a two part product that unmixed film is Part A or Part B on its own, and it will not cure. You get soft or tacky spots that show up days later. Pouring into a second container leaves that film behind in the first bucket.

Pot life is 20 minutes at 68F, so mix only what you can use in that window. Roll it on in one thin coat, let it dry about 3 hours, then apply one coat of sealer. Cold or still air will stretch that out.

Kit contents: Part A 6.83 lb (3.1 kg) plus Part B 4.19 lb (1.9 kg). Part B is not sold separately.

Coverage: 225 sq ft per kit, one coat, roller applied. Use on coarse texture in wet areas, before sealer. Apply between 41F and 77F. Coverage varies based on substrate and application thickness.

How to apply

  1. 1

    Check you need it

    Run a hand over the cured microcement. If it catches and holds dirt, Fill Coat helps. If the finish came out smooth, skip this step.

  2. 2

    Prep

    The microcement must be fully cured. The surface must be clean and free of dust, oil and grease.

  3. 3

    Mix

    Add all of Part B to Part A — 60 : 40 by weight. Mix with a slow-speed drill and paddle at 300–400 rpm for at least 3 minutes.

    Pour into a clean bucket and mix again

    Do not skip this. Material clings to the first bucket and never reaches the blade, and on a two-part product that unmixed film will not cure. You get soft spots that show up days later. Streaks mean it is not mixed.

    Roll it on

    One thin coat with a roller. Pot life is 20 minutes at 68°F, so mix only what you can use in that window.

    Let dry, then seal

    About 3 hours, longer in cold or still air. Then seal as usual. Apply between 41°F and 77°F.
