About Microvella

Microvella sells microcement direct. No trade account, no certification, no proof you work in the industry. You choose the system your job needs and you order it.

Why we exist

Almost all microcement in the United States is sold the same way. You take a training course, you get a trade account, and then you are allowed to buy the product. If you are not in the trade, you are not a customer.

That is a reasonable model, and it is not one we are arguing against. Our sister company Microcement USA is the distributorship that runs it — training and certifying installers across the country, and supplying the professionals in that network.

Microvella is the other door. Same category of product, sold to whoever wants it. A homeowner doing one feature wall, a painter adding a finish, a remodeler who would rather not sit a certification course before quoting a bathroom.

How we talk about the product

Microcement is a good material and it is not the right answer for every job. We would rather tell you that up front than have you find out halfway through a bathroom.

So: everything underneath telegraphs, and preparation is most of the work. Small areas are expensive per square foot because you cannot buy half a pail. It is trowelled by hand, so it varies — that is the material, not a defect. And where the rules say Reinforced, they are not a suggestion.

Where we do not have a number yet, we say so rather than inventing one. Our guides are written the same way.

Not doing it yourself?

Also fine. Microcement USA runs a network of certified installers, and we have written an honest description of the three routes to a finished surface — hiring a certified installer, handing the material to a trade you already trust, or doing it yourself.
