What is microcement?
A cement-based finish you trowel on by hand, about 2 mm thick, straight over the surface you already have. Tile, concrete, drywall, plywood. Nothing gets torn out.
It cures into one continuous surface. No grout lines, no seams. It is waterproof in itself, which is why it works in showers, bathrooms and splashbacks.
Two systems cover every job. Which one you need depends on what is underneath and how wet it gets.

Coarse is the base texture. Medium sits in between. Smooth goes further and covers more per pail.

For build coat and microcement. A 2.5-gallon pail covers half as much. It suits small jobs, but costs more per sq ft.

Can anyone buy microcement?
From Microvella, yes. No certification, no trade account, no contractor licence — you choose a system and order it. Most microcement sold in the United States is restricted to certified installers; this is not.
How long does microcement take to dry?
Hours, not days. Coats go on hours apart, so a room is usually finished in a few days rather than the weeks a tile job takes. Each coat still has to cure before the next — rushing one is the mistake that is hardest to undo.
Does microcement crack?
Not if the surface under it is sound and still. That is what the system is for: primer grips what is there, and on Reinforced, fiberglass mesh bedded into a structural build coat bridges movement underneath so it does not telegraph into the finish. It is rated for floors, entries and commercial traffic.
Where can I buy microcement?

Can you put microcement over tile?
Tile, concrete, drywall, plywood and MDF. The surface has to be sound and it has to be still. Anything loose or flexing gets fixed first — that is what primer and, on Reinforced, the mesh are for.
Can microcement be used outside?
Yes, on the Reinforced system. Patios, terraces and pool surrounds all work. Outdoor surfaces move with the weather, so the mesh and the build coats are not optional out there — Core is for indoors only.
Is microcement cheaper than tile?
On materials alone, usually not. Where it saves you is the rest of the job: it goes on about 2 mm thick over what is already there, so there is no demolition, no disposal and no second trade. Doing the work yourself removes the labour line entirely.
Is microcement waterproof?
Yes — and it is the microcement itself that makes it waterproof, not the sealer. You still seal every job, in two coats, on both systems. The sealer protects the finish; the waterproofing is already there underneath it.
How many coats of each?
Primer goes on once. Build coat, microcement and sealer all go on in two coats. Let each one cure before the next — rushing a coat is the mistake that is hard to undo.
Do I have to weigh the parts?
Yes. Weigh both parts, do not eyeball it. Primer mixes 75:25 by weight. Sealer mixes 83:17 by weight. Getting this wrong is the most common reason a coat fails to cure properly.
What is the difference between Coarse, Medium and Smooth?
Texture. Coarse has the biggest grain and the most natural stone look. Smooth has no visible grain. Medium sits in between. Smooth covers the most per pail, Coarse the least. Pick the one that matches the finish you are after.
