Microcement for Bathroom Remodelers

Ask a client what they hate about their bathroom and a lot of them will say the grout. Not the layout, not the vanity. The grout. Microcement is the answer to that complaint, and it is an answer almost nobody in your market is selling yet.

One surface, floor to ceiling

Floor, walls, shower, curb, niche, bench, vanity front. The same finish can run across all of it with no transition, no trim, no change of material and no grout line anywhere. That is a bathroom that reads as one room instead of five surfaces meeting at edges.

It also means a bathroom that cleans with a cloth. No grout to scrub, no grout to reseal, no grout to go grey in the corner of the shower in year three. When you are selling against a tile quote, that is the argument that lands.

Everything wet is Reinforced

There is no version of a bathroom where Core is the right call. If it is a wet room, it is Reinforced, including the dry corner by the door — you do not want a system change running through a seamless floor.

Where the jobs actually are

• Full wet rooms. The highest-value version, and the one where seamless earns its money. No tray, no threshold, no grout.
• Shower surrounds and floors. Straight over sound existing tile. The whole appeal is no demo.
• Bathtub surrounds. The smallest sensible entry job, and a good one to learn on.
• Vanity tops and splashbacks. Continuity with the wall behind, which is what makes a small bathroom look bigger.
• Powder rooms. Low risk, high visibility, and the room guests actually see.

What you have to get right

Two things, and neither is the finish itself.

Waterproofing sequence. This is a system that goes on in order, and the order is not negotiable in a wet area. Penetrations, the drain detail, the curb, the corner where the bench meets the wall — those are where bathrooms fail, and they fail the same way under microcement as they do under tile.

Substrate. Everything telegraphs. Drummy tile comes out. Flex gets fixed. There is no grout joint and no lippage allowance to absorb a mistake, so a wall that would have passed under tile may not pass here.

Neither of these is new to you. They are just less forgiving.

Buy it without a certification
