Fill Coat is an optional step between the finish coat and the sealer. It fills the surface pores of a coarse texture so the finish wipes clean instead of catching dirt.

The material is troweled on over cured microcement in one thin coat, then left to dry before sealing. Fill Coat does not replace your sealer, but over Fill Coat one coat of sealer is enough instead of two.

Fill Coat DA (Dry Areas) - the one-component version for dry areas. Ready to use straight from the bucket, no mixing and no Part B. Trowel it on, let it dry about an hour, then apply one coat of sealer. Cold or still air will stretch that out. If your microcement came out smooth, you do not need it.

Available in an 11 lb (5 kg) pail.

Coverage: 670 sq ft per pail, one coat. Use on coarse texture in dry areas, before sealer. Apply between 41F and 77F. Coverage varies based on substrate and application thickness.

How to apply

5 steps

  1. 1

    Check you need it

    Run a hand over the cured microcement. If it catches and holds dirt, Fill Coat helps. If the finish came out smooth, skip this step.

  2. 2

    Prep

    Sand the microcement layer. It must be fully cured. The surface must be clean and free of dust, oil and grease.

  3. 3

    Mix well

    Stir thoroughly before applying. If you are adding pigment, mix for at least 3 minutes with an electric mixer.

  4. 4

    Trowel it on

    Apply to the surface and trowel it out with a plastic trowel. Working time is 60 minutes.

  5. 5

    Let dry, then seal

    About 1 hour. Then seal as usual. Apply between 41°F and 77°F.
